Hämangiome sind die häufigsten Gefäßtumore und kommen bel 2% aller Säuglinge vor. Sie durchlaufen typlsche drei Phasen der Entwicklung (Wachstum, Stagnation, Rückbildung) und können je nach Größe erhebliche Residuen hinterlassen. Daher ist unter bestimmten Bedingungen eine Therapie erforderlich. Gefäßfehlbildungen (vaskuläre Malformationen) sind angeboren, da sie am Anfang der Embryonalentwicklung entstehen. Sie können das Blutgefäßsystem und das lymphatische System betreffen. Malformationen zeigen keine spontane Remission.
