Auszug
Kinder erleiden häufig Verbrennungen und Verbrühungen. Leider sind diese oft großflächig und tiefgradig und sie betreffen nicht selten auch das Gesicht, Hals und die Hände. Mehrere Operationen, eine lange Hospitalisation und eine jahrelange Rehabilitation sind die Folge. Funktionell und kosmetisch störende Narben machen spätere rekonstruktive Eingriffe nötig und können doch nie ganz zum Verschwinden gebracht werden. Eine optimale und ganzheitliche (d. h. explizit auch psychosozialel) Behandlung ist ebenso vielschichtig wie anspruchsvoll und erfordert ein. Team sowie eine spezifische apparative und infrastrukturelle Ausrüstung in einer kindgerechten Umgebung: Idealerweise ein Zentrum für brand verletzte Kinder, dessen Spezialisten die Patienten vom Unfalltag bis zum Abschluss aller Behandlungen kontinuierlich betreut.
