Für eine sichere Narkosepraxis muss der Anästhesist grundlegende Kenntnisse über die spezifische Pathophysiologie der Erkrankungen einschließlich ihrer Kompensationsmechanismen besitzen und — nicht zuletzt — die durch Narkose und Operation hervorgerufenen Veränderungen kennen.
