A Semantic Description Approach for Telecommunications Network Capability Services

The provision of pervasive services in the ubiquitous convergent network presents a great challenge in light of well known problems like context-awareness, semantic service description, accurate service query and dynamic service composition. In order to eliminate the semantic gap of Telecommunication Network and Internet in the service layer, we propose the provision of the semantic Telecommunications Network Capability Services (TNCS). By comparing the differences between TNCS and the plain Web Services, we present a semantic description method of TNCS by extending OWL-S. Then using this approach, we demonstrate a service profile description case for semantic ParlayX. In this way, the ontology-based accurate query, matching, automatic composition and invocation for telecommunication network capability services can be supported. The semantic convergence of telecommunication network and Internet in the service layer could be facilitated.
