Part of the book series: Lecture Notes in Computer Science ((LNAI,volume 5315))

Abstract

In this paper, a novel automatic tool changer for horizontal machining center is presented. The mechanism and working principle of the automatic tool changer are introduced. Push-pull rod and tool changer run synchronously driven by dual-cam linkage. The key structure, dual-cam linkage, is analyzed and designed in details. Cam curves of two sets of cams, one of which drives push-pull rod and another drives tool changer, are selected by way of comprehensive evaluation. The transmission unit is designed. An application example of this novel automatic tool changer in MDH65 Horizontal Machining Center is presented and motion simulation is carried out. The result shows that the novel dual-cam linkage automatic tool changer works more efficiently and reliably than general with rational matching design of two sets of cams.
