Zusammenfassung

Eine stetig wachsende Zahl von Untersuchungen hat in den vergangenen Jahren zu einem rasanten Fortschritt im Verständnis der neurobiologischen Grundlagen der posttraumatischen Belastungsstörung (PTBS) geführt. Die Faszination, die diese Krankheit auf neurobiologisch orientierte Forscher ausübt, liegt sicherlich neben dem eindrucksvollen klinischen Bild zu einem großen Teil darin, dass sich hier die Stressforschung und die Forschung zu den neuronalen, molekularbiologischen und pharmakologischen Grundlagen der Psychopathologie ergänzen und gegenseitig befruchten. Besonders deutlich wird dies auf den Gebieten des Einflusses von Stress auf Lern- und Gedächtnisprozesse sowie im Bereich der Emotionsregulation.
