Abstract
Course generation has long been a research topic and appears in the literature under a number of names, for instance curriculum sequencing [175] and trail generation [79]. The subsequent sections provide an overview of existing course generation approaches. The focus lies on well-known approaches that use (or claim to use) educational knowledge to inform the sequencing and selection of learning objects.
