Abstract
The cause of childhood brain tumors remains largely unknown, although there is correlation with a family history of cancer, and there may be hereditary factors as well. Children with neurofibromatosis have an increased risk of developing optic gliomas and those with tuberous sclerosis have an increased risk of astrocytoma or other benign brain tumors.
