Zusammenfassung
Auf einer eher gefühlsmäßigen Ebene und bei vordergründiger Betrachtung gilt „Gleichheit“ als etwas prinzipiell Gutes. Auch bei vielen Ökonomen herrscht eine implizite Vorliebe für mehr Gleichheit, die allerdings im Lauf der Zeit erheblich zurückgegangen ist. Allgemein besteht auch heute noch der Wunsch nach einer „gerechten“ Gesellschaft, in der die ökonomische Ungleichheit nicht allzu groß ist. Hinter dem Gleichheitsziel stehen ethisch-moralische Motive, die vielfach allerdings ziemlich unreflektiert bleiben.
