Die klinische Fragestellung bestimmt die Untersuchungsstrategie. Nativuntersuchungen bei der CT dienen der Untersuchung von Hochkontraststrukturen (Skelett- und Lungenparenchym), andererseits dem Hämatomnachweis. Die Untersuchungen von parenchymatösen Organen und Weichteilgeweben profitieren von der parenteralen Kontrastmittel-Applikation. Für die meisten abdominellen Fragestellungen ist eine Darmkontrastierung sinnvoll.
