This Chapter examines the practices in the wholesale financial markets with particular emphasis on the developments of the securities holding systems. The aim is to examine market practices in relation to the principal question analysed in this book: the requirement for identification of the collateral as a criterion for property rights in securities evidenced in book-entry form on securities accounts.
