Summary
We describe the ATLINTIDA indoor ultrasound location system, which provides positioning services in the context of Ambient Intelligence. ATLINTIDA makes use of spread spectrum techniques in order to improve robustness. In this paper we describe the design of ATLANTIDA, similarities/differences with respect to a commercial ultrasound location system (the CRICKET) and a comparison of the performance provided by both systems. According to experimental results, ATLINTIDA significantly improves the performance of CRICKET in positioning accuracy (mean error in location reduced from 37.74cm to 7.37cm), and rate of invalid measurements (reduced from 39.18% to 4.27%), for a similar distribution and density of nodes.
