Abstract

The usage of robotic technology for human services is increasingly coming into realization. Despite rapid advances, there are few robots that are practically in use in the human life environment. The service robot iRobiQ is a ubiquitous robot which can deliver lots of edited contents through ubiquitous network and has many features enabling intelligent interaction with young children and adults. iRobiQ has been used in the kindergarten environment to support the teachers and to play with kids for book reading, singing, dancing, game etc. iRobiQ is equipped with several IT technologies and has outstanding features for human robot interaction, thus serving as an constant source of attraction for children. In this paper, some of the features of iRobiQ, and the network-based service robot paradigm will be presented along with its applicability for education of children.
