Abstract

Quality of life (QoL) is routinely assessed in clinical trials, but not yet systematically utilized for therapy of the individual cancer patient. The tumor centre Regensburg developed a system for diagnosis and specific therapy for QoL deficits (QoL system) for patients with breast cancer which was implemented in 5 clinics and 33 practices and analyzed in a randomized clinical trial.

Quality of life assessment by patients and physicians is systematically different particularly in case of massive deficits in quality of life. The information about QoL and a specific therapy is necessary for an all out cancer treatment.
