Abstract
Morbid obesity in the adolescent population is a major area of public health concern. The criteria for surgical management of these patients are strict and require patient compliance for the success of the procedure. The chapter explains the procedure of laparoscopic adjustable gastric banding and outlines the operation room setup, positioning of the patient, special instruments required for the procedure and the port placement sites. The indications, contraindications, preoperative considerations and technical considerations have also been listed. Possible procedural variations have been outlined. The surgical procedure of laparoscopic adjustable gastric banding has been explained using sequential high quality images.
