A New Variant of Subgrid Dissipation for LES Method and Simulation of Laminar-Turbulent Transition in Subsonic Gas Flows

Abstract

A novel variant of subgrid dissipation that may be used in LES methods is described and tested. The corresponding mathematical model, based on the quasi-gasdynamic equations differs from the Navier-Stokes system by additional nonlinear dissipative terms. This model is applied to the two-dimensional numerical simulation of the laminar-turbulent transition in a backward-facing step flow in subsonic regime.
