Abstract
This rather extensive chapter consists of 8 different sections. With regard to their noise production and signal-to-noise-ratios all types of gain managing active (eg. transistors, op-amps, valves) and passive (eg. resistors and transformers) components for phono-amp purposes will be explained in depth by application of a broad range of mathematical formulae and figures. In addition, the vinyl record itself has to hand over its noise and signal-to-noise-ratio secrets.
