Für die Behandlung der kindlichen und adoleszenten Anorexia nervosa (AN) und Bulimia nervosa (BN) liegen mit Ausnahme der Familientherapie fast keine kontrollierten Studien vor. Die Mehrzahl der Empfehlungen beruht auf Expertenmeinungen und/oder klinischen Erfahrungen. Trotz der fehlenden Evidenzkriterien hat die Verbesserung der Behandlung — insbesondere die der Gewichtsrehabilitation — zu einer Senkung von Morbidität und Mortalität bei der adoleszenten AN in den letzten to Jahren geführt.
