This chapter reviews the theory of the quantum Hall effect (QHE) in quasi-one-dimensional (Q1D) conductors. It is primarily based on the author’s papers. The QHE in Q1D conductors is closely related to the magnetic-field-induced spin-density wave (FISDW) observed in these materials. The theory of the FISDW is reviewed in this book by Lebed, by Héritier, and by Haddad et al. The FISDW experiment is reviewed by Brown, Chaikin and Naughton, and by Pudalov and Kornilov.
