Abstract
The diagnosis of retinal and visual pathway disease can be aided by the use of electrophysiologic techniques such as the Ganzfeld, multifocal or pattern electroretinogram, electrooculography and visual evoked cortical potentials. Each technique allows to access a certain step in visual processing. The following gives a brief introduction into electrodiagnostic procedures to provide sufficient understanding of each test. More detailed information on electrophysiologic tests can be obtained from references. For all protocols described herein, the International Society for Clinical Electrophysiology of Vision (ISCEV) has issued standards of performance of the tests.
