Abstract
Ventral and incisional hernias centered around the umbilicus and on or close to the midline are good indications for the laparoscopic approach. Lateral hernias close to bony structures (ribs, pubis, iliac crest) or following incisions on the flank are difficult and require special techniques (Fig. 11.1).
