Abstract

The operational phase is that phase during construction in which the flow of the stresses in the medium through which the tunnel advances is deviated. It proceeds hand in hand with the monitoring phase, in which the design and all the operating decisions are monitored and perfected. This last phase is illustrated in the next chapter.
