Abstract

In order to take the new knowledge acquired during the research illustrated in chapter two to its extreme consequences and to develop a design and construction approach which fits reality more closely than those commonly in use today, it was essential to start a new programme of both theoretical and experimentally research to add to and deepen the knowledge we had already acquired of the relationship between the stress-strain behaviour of the advance core and the cavity.
