Endogenous Thrombin Potential in Women with Recurrent Miscarriage and/or Repeated In-Vitro-Fertilization Failure

  • Conference paper
37th Hemophilia Symposium

Abstract

Thrombophilia was implicated in the development of pregnancy complications [16], among these recurrent idiopathic pregnancy loss and repeated implantation failure in patients undergoing in-vitro-fertilization (IVF). The endogenous thrombin potential (ETP) has been reported to be increased during hypercoagulable states [68], such as in hereditary thrombophilia and during the intake of oral contraceptives (OC). Aim of this pilot-study was to evaluate the ETP as a global coagulation screening test for a presumptive thrombophilic state in women with recurrent miscarriage and/or repeated implantation failure in patients undergoing IVF.
