Abstract

The discussion of Chap. 12 concerning the failure of purely baryonic models of galaxy formation and the compelling evidence presented in Sects. 4.7 and 8.7 that non-baryonic dark matter must be present in the Universe with density parameter Ω0 ≈ 0.3mean that we need to develop models in which darkmatter is dominant dynamically in structure formation. This complicates the models of structure formation as illustrated in Fig. 13.1, which is adapted from Dodelson’s highly recommendable analysis (Dodelson, 2003).
