Zusammenfassung

Die Epidermis als Grenzfläche zwischen Organismus und Umwelt ist einer Vielzahl äußerer Einflüsse ausgesetzt, von denen etliche ein tumorigenes oder gar karzinogenes Potenzial besitzen. Unter diesen spielt wahrscheinlich das UV-Licht eine zentrale Rolle, jedoch auch thermische, mechanische oder toxische Einwirkungen sowie pathogene Mikroorganismen können eine Bedeutung haben. Die meist virusinduzierten, seltener bakteriell bedingten tumoralen Epithelproliferationen werden unter dem Kapitel der infektiösen Hauterkrankungen abgehandelt.
