Part of the book series: Lecture Notes in Computer Science ((LNISA,volume 4402))

Abstract

Bill of Material (BOM) is of a great importance in the dynamic allied enterprises during the product life cycle. A unified BOM method was proposed in the paper in order to bridge the gap between the different forms of BOM. After analyzing the information flow from engineering BOM to manufacturing BOM, the system framework was established based on STEP and XML standards which can secure the product data’s uniformity in a collaboration environment; and the implementing method and platform are also introduced. A case study has been conducted and shown that it is reasonable and feasible to tackle the multi-view issue of BOM and provide the integrity, conformability and instantaneity of product data.
