Abstract

Kapitel 1 führt in die Bedeutung unseres Immunsystems ein. Es werden die wesentlichen Zellen des Immunsystems hinsichtlich ihrer Entstehung und Funktion für das Immunsystem beschrieben. Ein besonderer Fokus liegt hierbei auf dendritischen Zellen, deren besondere Bedeutung für die Einleitung von Immunanworten in den letzten Jahren deutlich wurde. Es wird der Aufbau von wesentlichen immunologischen Organen, wie beispielsweise des Thymus, der Lymphknoten und der Milz beschrieben. Daneben ist aber auch die Immunabwehr in der Haut, in der Mukosa, die Wanderung von Immunzellen zwischen Blut und Lymphe, sowie die Unterscheidung von angeborener und erworbener Immunität ein Thema.
