Aktuelle Diskussionen und Publikationen zur Zukunft der Intensivmedizin befassen sich in aller Regel sehr intensiv mit der Frage der Zuständigkeiten, d. h. wer bzw. welche Fachrichtung die Intensivmedizin verantworten sollte. Alle denkbaren Modelle, von einer streng fachbezogenen bis hin zu einer interdisziplinären Intensivmedizin, die auch die konservativen und operativen Intensivpatienten vereint, werden hier diskutiert.
