Abstract

While, as noted before, Vertisols represent the second major soil group encountered in the Coastal Plain, they are also widely distributed in the large, transversal valleys Yizreel and Harod that separate Samaria from the Lower Galilee, and also on the basalt flows of the Lower Eastern Galilee and Southern Golan Heights. The geomorphology of these regions, which do not belong to the Coastal Plain, will be discussed briefly in the following.
