Ensembles of Classical Particles with Repulsion

Abstract

Here we address systems in which the interparticle forces are repulsive, so the systems are contained by external pressure. These include hard spheres and some kinds of colloids. The chapter discusses the instability of such systems and their phase transitions, especially those at high pressures and at low temperatures.
