Herr K., damals Student der Betriebswissenschaft, erlebte mit 23 Jahren die erste Manifestation einer schizophrenen Psychose. Im Vordergrund standen eine deutliche Wahnstimmung sowie akustische und haptisch-taktile Halluzinationen. Herr K. wurde in eine psychiatrische Klinik aufgenommen und mit einem Atypika erfolgreich behandelt. Zuerst konnte Herr K. sein Studium erfolgreich fortführen, sodass er eigenverantwortlich die neuroleptische Therapie beendete. Vor dem Examen während der Prüfungsvorbereitung kam es zu einer zweiten psychotischen Episode mit ähnlicher Symptomatik und zu einer erneuten Einweisung in eine psychiatrische Klinik. Die Wiederansetzung des gleichen Atypikas führte zu einer partiellen Remission, wobei Wahn und Halluzination völlig verschwanden, die kognitive Leistungsfähigkeit sich jedoch nur eingeschränkt verbesserte. Mit größter Mühe konnte er sein Studium beenden, aber über Jahre keine Stellung finden. Zur mangelnden psychischen Belastbarkeit gesellte sich bald eine zunehmende Antriebsarmut. Herr K. zog sich allmählich von allen Freunden und seiner Familie zurück. Nach einer erneuten kurzen Exazerbation der psychotischen Symptomatik lebt Herr K., mittlerweile 33 Jahre alt, in einer betreuten Wohngruppe.
