Die Diagnostik in der Psychiatrie beruht auf den drei Säulen psychopathologischer Befund im Querschnitt, Ausschluss einer hirnorganischen Ursache und Beurteilung des Verlaufs. Da die Diagnose der Schizophrenie nach wie vor mit einem nicht unerheblichen Stigma verbunden ist und darüber hinaus der Diagnosestellung bei 80% der Betroffenen teilweise eine lebenslange medikamentöse Rezidivprophylaxe folgt, ist hierbei sorgfältiges Vorgehen dringend erforderlich.
