Possible Jahn–Teller Effect and Strong Electron–Phonon Coupling in Beryllium Hydride

Abstract

Possibility of Jahn–Teller effect in extended systems, such as polymers and quasi-one-dimensional metals, is discussed using beryllium hydride as an example. If this polymer compound could be made metallic by doping (e.g., with Lithium), we conjecture that it should show strong-electron phonon coupling and possibly superconductivity with a relatively high critical temperature.
