Wenige Tage nach seinem 25. Geburtstag stellt sich der bisher immer gesund gewesene Student B.-W. E. bei seinem Hausarzt vor und klagt über seit 2 Wochen anhaltendes Fieber bis zu 39°C mit Nachtschweiß, so dass morgens sein Kopfkissen regelrecht nass sei. Außerdem habe er Halsschmerzen ohne sonstige Symptome eines respiratorischen Infektes, d.h. keinen Husten, keinen Auswurf, keine Atembeschwerden. In der initialen Labordiagnostik findet sich ein Leukozytose mit 72xl09/L (Norm: 3,6-10xl09/L) und einem Blastenanteilvon über 80%.
