Abstract
Along with linearised theories of stability, constructed with a degree of rigour inherent in continuum mechanics and consistently expounded in this book, the approximate approach in the three-dimensional theory of stability of deformable bodies is also being developed and used. Since in the next chapter analysis of particular problems within the scope of the rigorous TLTDBS will be carried out and in some of them the results will be compared to those obtained using the approximate approach, an outline of this approximate approach seems worth making.
