Zusammenfassung

Erkrankungen des Verdauungssystems weisen im Kindesalter ein deutlich anderes Krankheitsspektrum auf als im Erwachsenenalter. So ist die Kardiainsuffizienz ein typisches, meist harmloses Krankheitsbild des Säuglings (Speikind), dagegen ist die hypertrophische Pylorusstenose des Neugeborenen oft nur operativ zu beheben. Klinisch verhalten sich gastroenterologische Erkrankungen im Kindesalter anders. Durchfall und Erbrechen führen viel schneller zu einer bedrohlichen Dehydratation, sodass häufiger eine parenterale Flüssigkeitssubstitution notwendig ist.
