Das Auftreten eines malignen Tumorgeschehens in der Schwangerschaft gehört zu den eher seltenen klinischen Ereignissen. Schätzungsweise bei 0,07–0,1% aller Schwangerschaften wird eine maligne Tumorerkrankung neu diagnostiziert. Malignome des Ovars in der Schwangerschaft, hier insbesondere das epitheliale Karzinom, sind nach dem Zervix- und Mammakarzinom die dritthäufigsten gynäkologischen Malignome (Greenlee et al. 2001).
