Zusammenfassung

Die Diagnosestellung und Klassifizierung metabolischer Erkrankungen des Gehirns bereitet oft Schwierigkeiten. Gerade im Spätstadium sind die einzelnen Erkrankungen bisweilen nicht einfach voneinander abzugrenzen. In den folgenden Abschnitten sollen sie der Einfachheit halber in Erkrankungen eingeteilt werden, die primär die weiße Substanz, solche, die primär die graue Substanz betreffen, und solche, die sowohl die weiße als auch die graue Substanz involvieren. Im letzen Abschnitt sollen schließlich die Erkrankungen besprochen werden, die vorwiegend infratentorielle Strukturen betreffen. Die Übergänge zwischen den einzelnen Kategorien sind jedoch nicht immer scharf abgrenzbar.
