Observing molecular structure changes and dynamics in polar solution

  • Chapter
Analysis and Control of Ultrafast Photoinduced Reactions

Part of the book series: Chemical Physics ((CHEMICAL,volume 87))

Abstract

Most chemical reactions and all biological processes take place in solution. The solvent influences the energetics of chemical reactivity because the reactants, transition state, and products may be stabilized differently by the solvent, and it creates fluctuating external forces for the dynamics.
