In letzter Zeit besteht ein gesteigertes Interesse, die Berührungspunkte zwischen den artifiziellen reproduktiven Techniken (ART) und der Reproduktionsgenetik zu beleuchten. Dies zeigt sich schon daran, dass, von der Europäischen Gemeinschaft (EU) gefördert, im Jahre 2005 von den 2 betroffenen großen europäischen Fachgesellschaften, der European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE) und der European Society of Human Genetics (ESHG) ein diesbezüglicher Prozess in Gang gesetzt wurde [36]. Dies wurde auch dadurch katalysiert, dass die Genetik in die embryologischen Labore Einzug in Form der Präimplantationsdiagnostik hielt, was zur Formulierung von Leitlinien auf diesem «Grenzgebiet» führte [30, 37].
