Abstract
Whitney-smooth families of Floquet Diophantine invariant tori in dynamical systems can form complicated hierarchical structures. The latter usually include l-parameter families of invariant n-tori with different n and l. The interaction of families of tori of different dimensions is exemplified by the so called excitation of (elliptic) normal modes in Hamiltonian and reversible systems.
