The AGN Environment

Abstract

After a general discussion about the gains of large telescopes, I review the capabilities that are required for the VLT to study the AGN environment, with particular regard for the Polarimetric ones. I compare the capabilities with what is foreseen in the present instrument plan and suggest some improvements.
