Abstract

In this work, an analysis of the chemical abundances along the main body of the startburst galaxy NGC5253 is presented in order to study the gas enrichment due to the stellar wind. Observational evidence suggests that past interaction with the giant spiral M83 induced violent star formation towards massive stars. The observed excess of primary N and Ne in the external regions in comparison with the nucleus are consistent with simple contamination models with strong mass loss, with an upper limit of ~ 55M for the IMF of the second generation of stars formed about 500 Myrs ago.
