Abstract

The wide variety of particle beam applications often require very specific beam characteristics in terms of say cross section, divergence, energy spread, or pulse structure. To a large extent such parameters can be adjusted by particular application of focusing and other forces. In this chapter, we will discuss some of these methods of beam optimization and manipulation.
