Bei Systemerkrankungen führt der gleiche Pathomechanismus in verschiedenen Organen zu funktionellen oder strukturellen Schäden. Zu den Systemerkrankungen im engeren Sinn gehören Kollagenosen, Vaskulitiden und die Granulomerkrankungen. Im weiteren Sinne bezeichnet man z. B. auch Diabetes mellitus, die Arteriosklerose und selten auch Infektionen als Systemkrankheiten.
