Abstract
Gaseous absorption of modulated infrared radiation can increase the temoerature of a gas. This is known as the optothermal (OT) effect /1/. A number of works devoted to OT registration of absorption spectra /2,3/ as well as to the study of OT detectors (OTD) basic characteristics and heat transfer me-chanisms /4,5/ have been published. These detectors are not large in size, are highly sensitive at low gas pressures (10−7cm−1 W Hz −1/2 in the present case) and have better vibrational immunity as compared to the ontoacoustic ones.
