Abstract

Light sources, optical fibers, and optical receivers are fundamental devices needed to construct optical fiber transmission systems. In addition to these devices, such optical components as light source to fiber couplers, splices, connectors, directional couplers, attenuators, multiplexers, isolators, switches, etc. are essential to realize practical transmission systems or are required for measuring purposes.
