Scale-Free Features in the Observed Traffic Flow

  • Conference paper
Traffic and Granular Flow’05

Summary

Scale-free features in traffic flow are discussed based on observed data. The observed traffic flow is known to contain some periodic motions reflecting our social activities. By employing the DFA (Detrended Fluctuation Analysis) method, the traffic flow can be shown to exhibit daily periodic oscillations with scale-free fluctuations.
