Abstract

As already mentioned in the Introduction, we will use here the ideas of ordered media and of order parameter(s) for such media mainly as an excuse for introducing basic concepts of algebraic topology and especially the relevant notions concerning homotopy groups that we will exploit extensively in what follows.
